A long awaited project has become reality. This year, in Bafia, in the heart of Cameroon, an important milestone could be celebrated: the new and renewed opening of the PATRIZIA School Bafia.
For many years, the school was in poor condition. There was neither running water nor electricity, the roofs were leaking, and accessible sanitary facilities were missing, which was especially important for the many children with physical disabilities in the region. The classrooms opened directly onto a busy road, and there was no secure entrance gate, exposing the children to noise, vandalism, and danger, making daily learning a real challenge. Little infrastructure, little protection, little perspective.
Today, however, the school shines with new brilliance. A large entrance gate welcomes the children every morning. The playground is spacious and inviting, with a covered pavilion serving as a meeting place for the school community.
The classrooms are now solidly built, brightly painted, and ready for modern teaching. Clean and functional toilets are also part of the facilities, a huge step forward for hygiene and dignity in everyday school life.
One of the most emotional moments of the celebration was the reaction of many participants who had known the school’s previous condition and could hardly believe what had been achieved in such a short time.
The joy over the successful project was palpable at the official inauguration ceremony. Around 800 people came together, including the Bishop of Bafia, representatives of the Patrizia Foundation and PATRIZIA, the responsible architects, teachers, parents, and many happy children. The event was a true celebration, full of music, traditional dances, laughter, and moving moments. On the faces of all those present were reflected pride, gratitude, and hope.

A crucial contribution to the implementation of this important expansion work came from the PATRIZIA HIKING Challenge 2024. More than €200,000 were raised in support of the PATRIZIA School Bafia.
This outstanding commitment by around 120 participants, including PATRIZIA employees, sponsors, and other supporters, played a key role in making the school a reality. Thanks to their dedication, the school now shines with new brilliance and provides the children with a safe and modern learning environment.
With the new PATRIZIA School Bafia, not only a school has been opened, but also a place of hope for generations of children. It is a sign that change is possible when people believe together in a better future.
