In November 2019, Jowita Fuchshofer, our Senior Manager for Donor Relations, travelled to Uganda to meet the local PATRIZIA School Buyamba staff in person, explore new opportunities for collaboration and spend time with the children.
Meeting with the partner Masaka Diocese
The foundation has been in close contact with one of our local contacts, Father Charles Mbazzi (right), for months. He is a member of the school committee. PATRIZIA School Buyamba is located on a church property not far from his parish home. It is funded by the state and run by the church.
On the five-hour car journey from Entebbe airport to Buyamba, Father Charles suggested a stop at his superior, the bishop of the Masaka diocese.
We got to know the friendly and open Father, who was very devoted and humble in his dealings with his superior; eye contact and handshakes were only permitted when requested. After the official interview, we were allowed to sign the bishop’s guest book.
